Bali was hit by blackout because the power supply was disconnected by PLN (the stated-owned electric company), and VII commission of DPR RI (Indonesian House) which charge of energy, mineral resources, research, technology and environment, gave the attention of the accident. It was delivered when the group which was received by Bali vice Governor, Ketut Sudikerta, did a working visit to Bali government on Monday (14/7). As a first tourism destination, Bali should not be in total darkness and the problem should be able to be anticipated. So according to VII commission, Bali should have a reliable system to prevent the accident.
The lead of group, Ir. S Milton Pakpahan, said that for further Bali should get a serious attention from central government. “We who charge the business will always try to support the development of electricity energy sector at country through research and technology,” said him. According to him, the electricity ratio has reached up to 81,51% in national level. “Bali has reached up to 79,28%, it means a good news,” added him. For further, he expected that there will be emerging new energy in Bali, so the region will be able to be independent in electricity supply.
The member of commission, Sutan Bhatoegana, had a same idea. According to him, Bali is not only as Indonesia window, but also it is as world window. “What will happen in Bali, will be the world attention,” said him. So, he agreed with Pakpahan, Bali should get more attention, especially in availability of energy. Even, the politician of Demokrat party sure that Bali will be a pilot project in developing biofuels. In addition to eco-friendly, the project will be expected to be able to beautify the island. “For example in developing the biofuels from sunflower seeds,” added him. He added that the idea will be possibly developed, if we are serious on it.
Vice Governor Sudikerta thanked and appreciated to all commission. Concerning about the electricity, Bali has 794.752 of power supply and 19,8 of supernumerary. Most of that amount, Bali electricity has still supplied from Java. So, if the supplying trouble happens, the blackout could not be avoided.
According to Sudikerta, electricity is vital need in Bali, so its availability should be protected. Therefore, government always tries to renew its energy. The source that has been worked, are solar and wind energy as well as waste processing. To optimize the project, Sudikerta expected that central government could increase its funding to Bali. On the occasion, Sudikerta once again aspired that Bali should get more balancing fund in tourism sector. So, he really hoped the revision of law which regulates the stated budget will be published. “The balancing fund in recent law just regulates about natural resources, as we know Bali just relies on tourism sector income, and it has contributed to foreign exchange for Rp. 40 trillion,” said him. So he expected that the next law will prioritize the balance.
