Pastika Demanded Transportation Ministry to Strengthen the Supervision of Weighbridge

Bali’s governor Made Mangku Pastika met Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi while the minister conducted the work visit to Bali on Sunday (23/10). On the meeting which was taking place in Gianyar meeting room Sanur Paradise Hotel, Pastika suggested the Transportation Ministry to more strengthen the supervision for weighbridge whereas the management will take over to central government soon.

Furthermore, Pastika who was also accompanied by Transportation Head Agency of Bali Provincial Government, I Gusti Ngurah Sudarsana, SH. MH an PR Head Agency I Dewa Gede Mahendra Putra, SH.,MH, revealed some problem facing while manage that bridge. One of them is the lack of supervision and cause the overload trucks are free passing that bridge. He expected the momentum of that authority handover would be able to specify the national standard in managing the weighbridge. “The most problem is when driver said that they have been allowed in Java, meanwhile our standard in Bali has been overload,” said him. According to Pastika, the overload of each truck reaches to 10 ton. “Imagine if each ship carry 33 trucks, so we have 330 ton of overload, and that is very dangerous,” added him. Beside endanger the crossing, that tonnage over also harm Bali as a tourism destination. Road damage and traffic jam, added Pastika, are the negative effects that should be faced Bali caused by overload of trucks come from others islands, especially Java. “The key is North Beach of Java lane, the supervision for weighbridge should be strengthened,” demanded him.

In the other side, that lack of supervision also used by individual to charge illegal fee from truck drivers. Regarding many problems happen, he thought that that weighbridge needs a serious supervision and management from Ministry of Transportation.

Beside highlighted the weighbridge, Pastika also revealed the expectation of most Balinese people on the realization of new airport in North area. Pastika explained, after passing through some alternatives and studies, East Buleleng (Kubutambahan sub-distric-red) is considered the best location based on meet technical aspect of flight standards. Until the day, investor from Airport Kinesis Consultant (AKC) Canada is the most serious company to invest. According to Pastika, their concept has the most minimal social impact because the runway will completely build above sea, half is reclamation and the rest using pile. “If build in land, many productive land will be used. Even the settlement and temple that are not easy in land acquisition process,” explained him. So, Pastika demanded the Ministry to conduct the study over AKC offer and then to issue the location permit. For more clearly, Pastika demanded the ministry to schedule the hearing of AKC presentation.

On that occasion, Pastika also expected the Ministry to consider the railway construction over the rice field that connecting Kuta to Ubud. According to him, this is important in order to solve the traffic congestion in these tourist lane.

Minister Budi Karya appreciate the suggestion of Pastika. As the main tourism destination, the Ministry always give a special attention in transportation sector to this island. Related to weighbridge, its party will involve the independent management, strengthen the supervisor and synchronize the regulation for all provinces. Through these patterns, He expected any problems happened in weighbridge could be minimized. He also added, the optimization of sea toll program is also becoming the important part in order to prevent road damage because of tonnage overload. Meanwhile related to Pastika expectation in realizing the development of new airport in North area, its party will conduct an intensive study for some alternatives that exists in East Buleleng. “We will study and find the minimum negative impacts solution,” said him. beside meeting with Governor Pastika, Minister Budi Karya who was accompanied by his staffs also reviewing some object that relating to transportation field, like airport, port and terminal.
