Overcome Water Issues at Nusa Penida, the Governor Requested State Electricity Company Assistance

The governor, Made Mangku Pastika requested to State Electricity Company (PLN) to wholly distribute power supplies in order to optimize Guyangan water pumps which becomes the primary water source of Nusa Penida society. This expectation conveyed by the governor during welcoming the former of State Electricity Company general manager at Bali region IB Mardawa at his office on Tuesday (4/2). The governor explained that currently there were five pumps supplying water from Guyangan wellspring. Two of them employing power supply from State Electricity Company, meanwhile two others were still using generator which obviously makes the cost become quite expensive.  While the rest one was in damaged condition. Pastika believed that if the State Electricity Company would like to totally support the power supply, the more water flowing to the residences houses at Nusa Penida. Hence, water issues during dry season could be solved.  Besides, the governor expected that this island would apply solar power plants as an alternative power. “This island is potentially to create renewable power plants” he said. 

             In order to respond the governor request, Mardawa would communicate it with the State Electricity official for further follow up. Thus, on March, the governor expectation would be realized. Additionally, Mardawa reported that electrical condition in Bali is relatively stable. The peak of electric consumption is 721 MW meanwhile the power supply available is 820 MW.  In order to support extra supply for Bali electricity there will be two submarine cables which transferring the power from Java with 100MW power for each of them.  Besides, steam power plants at Celukan Bawang predicted to be able to supply the power for southern Bali about 375 MW. On 2017, State Electricity Company will build airways extra high voltage (Sutet) and central gas power (PLTG) Pesanggaran which supply about 200MW power. On that occasion Mardawa also discussing about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), residence reconstruction and introducing Syamsul Huda as the new general manager of the State Electricity Company at Bali region meanwhile he himself will be on duty at east Java.
